One of the reasons Ottawa was eventually chosen as Canada's capital was that it's relative seclusion in the interior of the country made it defensible from attack. While threat of invasion is unlikely any time in the near future, the city retains much of its rural surroundings, which means that the kind of motorcycle riding you know and love is just minutes away from big city attractions. Ottawa tourism has suggested five charming routes to help you explore this beautiful countryside. East of Ottawa you will find that agritourism is popular, with farms like Stanley's Olde Maple Lane Farm inviting people to check out their tasty operations.

The country guest houses at La Vieille Ferme provide a relaxing escape from the noise of city life. And you'll want to check out Beau's Brewing Company and see if they will reveal some family brewing secrects. They make one of my very favourite brews! Riding south of Ottawa, as the Rideau Canal widens, you'll find the picturesque village of Manitock.

Recommended Route: Ride the Ottawa Valley The upper half (the longer of the two halves) of this road runs from Afton VA, (near Waynesboro and Staunton, VA) south till it intersects I-77. This part of the road ambles through the Virginia country side with several sites to stop such as an old ...
