More than that, the handling characteristics and engine manners mimic the R1/R6 race-replicas. As a taster to bigger and better things, the YZF-R125 is the perfect starter.Bear in mind the 125 is a scaled down sports bike and for that reason it doesn’t fit everybody. To be truthful, six-footers look awkward on the Yamaha even before they place their bum on seat. But then that’s the price you have to pay to get a measure of life in the supersports lane.Despite the size limitation, the 125 is actually quite comfortable. Footpegs aren’t ridiculously high and set back and the bars are close by, although still angled a la sporting-style. The seat is a strange one by being thin, firm and sloping into the tank. But put it all together and you are Jorge Lorenzo about to cut rough on the way to McDs…Reality hits home when hot hatches get away from you at the lights.
The very modern water-cooled engine isn’t that gutless and Yamaha has worked to gear it to accommodate acceleration and top end drive through the 6-speed gearbox and final drive sprockets. But it is only 125cc and horribly neutered to remain legal.So, while revving the conrod nuts off it, high rpm momentum isn’t that great, but the noise is, which adds impetus to the GP racer thoughts. Moving them on to the next level – maybe second placed on the rostrum – is a wicked little chassis complete with aluminium swingarm and half decent (read firm-ish) suspension.Yes, the 125 can be thrown onto its side in an instant and back upright for the next roundabout in a nano-second after. The slug-like speed of legality unfortunately ruins any thoughts of rushing out of corners, so it’s necessary to really act out the GP fantasy.Score up to the turn/roundabout, get on the correct line, use minimal braking last thing and use the agility and feel from the suspension to make use of corner speed.
Yahooo… or words to that effect when you actually nail a perfect series of corners; to learn the art of racing lines, the 125 is probably the best learning tool out there.The only drawback is the standard tyres aren’t all that for confidence and grip. All hail replacement rubber that is stickier and usable. In the meantime, owning a £4,000 125cc should teach you how to look after your first motorcycle. Its a demon in disguise. If you can handle it good, then you're good to go. Lessens the engine vibrations during long rides. And guys trust me, vibrations do give you chills. LARGE DIAMETER  DISCS : Comparing with the tyre size, the disc diameter has been well maintained, so that you wont have to pull the levers for hours.5. SPORTIER LOOKS :I don't need to type.You might wanna look to the other side of it.1. Since the riding position is shaped , your upper boy weight rests on your wrists. And after 10,15 kilometers riding you won't be able to feel your arm anymore.2. And remember, when you are going out on a date, or something with your girl,   strictly avoid this bike. First of all, she will need to jump over a hill just to sit. And when she does finally, she'll look like a giraffe.3. The pillion is so absurd, and seat has no cushion at all ! Split seat, my ass. 4. There is nothing to grab, for the pillion rider. No handle bar, nothing! At least CBR has one. Any incident, and pillion rider would be flying mid in the air.5. The exhaust pipe is extra heightened.
I mean there is no room for keeping the legs straight, without hurting the thigh !6. I mean you pack 17bhp raw power in a thin body, with disc brakes with a diameter of a football, and no ABS ! Are you trying to arson me ?7. All of this, and with a price tag of 1.3L. Needless to say, mileage is around 25,30 KmpL.Note, this was a funny, rather scaring incident, happened with me this september. I was checking out  R15 v2 in a nearby dealership. After taking the test ride, and talking money, when I was about to leave. This store guy(in his mid 30's, I guess), he comes to me, and says, "you look like a good guy, I'd recommend you not to go for this bike.' I was taken aback. He says " Be sure to put a framed picture of yourself on the wall in your room. Just a garland away."Yeah, that's what I thought.It is made with a promise from the world class motorcycle manufacturing company ‘YAMAHA’. And they fulfill their promise, its their 2nd version of its previous sibling r15 version1 with improved performance and even better visual upgrades.2.
R15 has a very sporty edge look with its fairings, front dual lights, and its back styling which has been borrowed from its elder brother yamaha R6, its magnificent styling makes it unique and best of its class and definitely a eye candy bike, people will ask about it wherever you go.3. Its best in class handling that we get from this bike is superb, version two has increased stability on roads and higher flickability in traffic. R15 is said as king of the corners due to its handling and cornering ability with its soft compound tyres, light handle and longer wheelbase. Its made to give you the complete sporty experience.4. It has power packed liquid cooled fuel injected 150cc single cylinder, 4 valve SOHC engine with 15 nm torque and 17 bhp and a first in its class light aluminium swingarm and with its complete aerodynamical fairing, great cornering ability, smooth functioning, greater stability at high speeds and with best build quality,material and riding position it delivers  a great sporty riding experience.5.
Its top speed will be around 130km/ph(dynamo tested) but as every speedo meter shows around 7-8% error its speed may look more and vary. It has ability to quick acceleration of 0 to 60 km/ph within 6 seconds and 0 to 100km/ph in 12 seconds (company tested and reviewed by bike advice) but overall it is a power packed product.6. As compared to its previous model “R15 version 1″ which was proven a very successful model, now r15 version 2 has many things improved likea 3 cm longer wheelbaseimproved looks and visual upgrades like back portion, split seat, led tail lamps, fatter wider tyres ,better seating position where more pressure is put on front tyre, -improved performance. As expected by Yamaha to deliver R15 version 2 with more engine upgrades and a more powerful 180cc or more and a more bhp engine, but it kept it same and no much difference  in its version 2.0 r15 “but still it had good visual and performance upgrades.”2. Its current model has more 4 kgs of extra weight installed and due to its fatter tyre it was expected to effect its mileage but it didnt effect much and has a mileage of 30-35 in city riding and 35-40 in highway but my experience by average its around 35.3.
Its price that is increased due to the changes made in the bike. Its seems to be a little overpriced. 1,14,000 (ex showroom Delhi) and prices vary from state to state due to taxes.4. Newly some days the rider may feel pain in his arms and palms who is new in sports riding and has not ridden the R15 type bikes previously but gradually after some weeks when you get habituated you wont get the pain.5. And The back split seat is said to be a little higher than normal and can be a pain for long rides mainly for woman.ProsUnlike many other bikes in the industry, R15 gets least amount of criticism while its advantage list is good enough to leave the minor flaws on the motorcycle.The design is timeless. Since last 8 years, the changes are minimum on the front while Yamaha has played very nicely with the color combinations on the motorcycle. Each year, the new shades are introduced in order to end the ageing effect on the R15.Performance for a 150 cc motorcycle is worth praising. A 13.07 second sprint time to 100 kmph is decent while the refinement and driving feel is truly unbeatable.
3-4 seconds faster than most of the 150 cc bikes of India.It's lightweight and the most efficient motorcycle when compared in terms of handling. Sharp dynamics makes it easy to accelerate, brake and turn while low weight makes it easy to control, reverse and even do most of things without putting your foot to the ground.Instrument console provides nice, life like experience. It does not provide a blue, red or yellow back-lit display as most other bikes. The white light provides a better viewing experience.The best in class mileage of around 40 kmpl on normal riding is the biggest advantage to those who cannot compromise economy while riding a sportbike.Yamaha's tyre hugger makes the bike look more road friendly as it not just looks perfect but also protects the pillion and the person driving behind you from streams of dirty water.Cons:-Pillion comfort, which the company itself felt was sacrificed on the second generation R15, is the biggest drawback of all time. Thanks to Yamaha, now you can buy a second version with a single long seat for enhanced pillion comfort (R15S).
Yamaha R15 feels a bit overpriced when compared with bikes like Bajaj RS200 and AS200. They are better placed when seen from the value for money perspective.The missing ABS, not even optionally available forces many buyers into other segments like Apache RTR 180 and RS200 for more safety.Yamaha still provides 35W headlamps while many others around the segment have moved on to morepowerful 60W headlamps for better night driving.“Hope this helped you”Advantages:Liquid cooled engine: Allows you to operate the engine at high rpms for longer time periods.Deltabox frame: Way better handling.New generation looks: Turns heads wherever you go.Reliability and durability: Long lasting components and superb build quality.Disadvantage Very aggressive driving position: You may find it very uncomfortable after a few kilometres of riding but you'll become accustomed to it with time.Low milegaeUncomfortable for pillion riderI have an R-15 v2.0 that I use for touring.
