BMW is one such builder, and is even into its second generation of adventure bikes with the F 800 GS and F 800 GS Adventure. The former is more of a casual commuter / funbike, while the “Adventure” is geared toward touring and long-range work, and naturally, both come with the top-notch engineering one expects from BMW.Continue reading for my review of the BMW F 800 GS and F 800 GS Adventure. continue reading Beemer Announces Evil Electric Bagger ...sort of. What we actually have here are three separate items from BMW . First up, we have BMW’s S1000XR adventure -sport bike hob-knobbing in Hollywood as it plays a supporting role (literally) in “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.”

Next, It looks like the Bayerische Motoren Werke is entering the bagger market in 2017 alongside rides such as the H-D Street Glide and Honda Gold Wing F6B, just to name a few. Beemer’s vanguard into this new territory will be the K1600B; a full-fairing, six-cylinder, hard-bag boulevard bruiser. Lastly, we have news for the electric sector that is more car-centric in nature, but is cool and will eventually benefit bikes too.Continue reading for more information on the BMW news. continue reading BMW Recalls Handful Of S1000R & RR In U.S. As far as recalls go, this new one from BMW is the smallest I’ve seen to date. I mean, if it were anybody but a German company I would wonder how they could be so accurate on such a small number, but instead here we are. The NHTSA has reported a recall on a mere 21 units here in the U.S.— a score of ’16 and ’17 S1000RR models and a single, lonely S1000R. It seems that a bolt within the rear-shock mounting hardware may have been improperly torqued at the factory.

As I peruse different concept and technology sites in my search for cool motorcycle innovations, things catch my attention and I like to share them with folks of similar interests. Sometimes innovative and creative designs leave me wondering “How did I ever live without this?” Then there’s the rest of the time when I have to wonder “What the Hell were they thinking?”

continue reading 2015 BMW F 700 GS Beemer’s F 700 GS replaced the 650 version back in ’12, and the line is still going strong as we move into the ’17 MY. This year, the factory threw on a number of substantial upgrades that increases the value a bit to help it compete in an ever more crowded market.Adventure bikes are fairly ubiquitous nowadays, and I think almost everyone but the American manufacturers are making something in that vein, so it’s important to stay on the cutting edge as the adventure-bike segment continues to mature.

continue reading 2017 BMW C 650 Sport / C 650 GT Nobody blurs the line between scooter and proper motorcycle better than the engineers at BMW , and the C 650 range is no exception. The 2017 C 650 “Sport” and “GT” models are a direct carryover from the ’16 model year, but that’s not surprising given how difficult it would be to improve upon the bundle of features already built in. I mean, it’s a scooter with traction control and ABS on board, plus a relatively large and powerful engine with a sophisticated engine management system, so this is not your grandfather’s scooter. I have a great appreciation for German engineering, so I’m looking to see what all Beemer has tucked away on its not-so-little maxi-scooter.Continue reading for my review of the BMW C 650 GT and C 650 Sport. continue reading 2017 BMW G 310 R / G 310 GS BMW ’s G 310 R roadster gets a brother as it moves into the 2017 model year with the addition of the adventuresome G 310 GS. The “GS ” builds on the success of the “R ” with a few subtle changes that shift the design toward the adventure bike end of the spectrum.

There is considerable pressure on the small-displacement market, and all the major players are hard at work to populate the various genres with these mini-mills. Since indoctrination is best when started young and manufacturers recognize the benefits of cultivating brand loyalty early, this all-important entry-level bracket is hotly contested, which makes me all the more curious what the Bavarians bring to the table as their BMW-bait this year.Continue reading for my review of the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS. continue reading 2015 - 2017 BMW R 1200 RS BMW launched its newest sport-tour model, the R 1200 RS in 2015, and the model is a direct carryover into the ’17 model year with some upgraded goodies last year and this year. Beemer combined the top-shelf Automatic Stability Control, optional Electronic Suspension Adjustment, Dynamic Traction Control and variable power-delivery modes with a rather sporty platform, both in form and performance. The 1,170 cc, twin-cylinder boxer engine delivers power numbers that would embarrass many pure sport bikes and drives the RS into the realm of high-speed, long-distance riders.

Beemer’s RS series has always been about touring comfort since the original brought its fixed fiberglass fairing to the market back in 1976 with the R100 RS, and this newest incarnation toes the family line with tour-tastic features that should take the edge off the longer jaunts. Join me while I take a look at the newest generation of this venerable line.Continue reading for my review f the BMW R 1200 RS. continue reading 2016 - 2017 BMW R 1200 GS / R 1200 GS Adventure BMW continues its GS legacy into 2017 with the R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure. With a new cooling concept integrated into the muscle-up-front design from last year, the R 1200 GS looks even more ready and capable to carry you on the adventure of your choosing.Standard with disengageable integral ABS, traction control, an on-board computer, a height-adjustable saddle, stepless adjustable windscreen, a pillion adjustable fore and aft, and removable passenger pegs, the R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure are great choices for on-road and off-road touring .
