Awesome, and really fun to jog! I went on a 11 mile run through swains lock and it was so fun, you would occasionally see other runners but not too much. I also enjoyed the scenery around me. It is mostly dried dirt but has some mud. Really great if you are going with family members. Decided to slowly ride through and had no problems. Small climb (near the marina)about half way which is a nice change and got the blood pumping. Like starting and finishing in Delaware City and eating at Crabby Dicks. Be sure to stop at the grave yard and read the stories. Nice, but not for everyone My directions started me in the middle, with parking only on the street. I started at Strawberry Lake Way and went south to I believe Brager's road. At the "end" there was no signage but I stayed on a sidewalk past new housing construction. mens biker boots brisbaneThe sidewalk may have been part of the trail but it was not marked. It continued across the road and down a hill going South but I had had enough hills and turned around and went the full 3.8 miles north to Odenton. The trail is nice for exercise, a bit hilly but not extreme, since it was formerly an electric railway. It is not for those looking to get away from civilization, as most of this section is suburban.

However I did see a bald eagle at a pond along the way. I may come back to explore south. I am amused and annoyed by reviewers who say they are "disappointed" because the route is not through wilderness. Folks, stop whining, look at a map and other reviews before you go! Paint Branch Trail (Prince George's County) quiet, easy to access, great for a 5K run or walk The setting of College Park's parkrun (weekly free 5K), this section of the Paint Branch Trail is easy to access and well paved, yet quiet and not heavily travelled. A great path through the forest along a stream inside the Beltway. In October due to a weird work schedule, I got on the trail at Connellsville, rode to Pittsburgh, took Amtrak to Washington, DC, then rode back via the C&O Towpath and joined the GAP again at Cumberland. Did it in six days pulling my BOB trailer the whole way. The GAP trail is terrific. Very well-maintained, seems very popular. I encountered all sorts of people, including many riding the entire Pittsburgh to Cumberland or on to Washington route.

The beginning it uphill for nearly twenty miles, but very do-able if you set your pace. The Mason Dixon line monument is wonderful, as is the tunnel nearby. Lots of great scenery and wildlife--even saw 1 porcupine and a black bear darted across the trail. I stayed at the Ramada in Cumberland (fine) and had a great Italian dinner nearby, then stayed in Meyerdale the next night before heading back into Connellsville where I stayed off the trail a bit at the Melody Motor Lodge--a throwback to another era but fine. Parked my car near the Amtrak station at the Connellsville PD--they just asked that I leave them a note with my contact info just in case. I really enjoyed the more industrial areas as well as the natural ones--McKeesport, Homestead, etc. Lots of history and beauty. I would rate the GAP among my top four bike trails--with the Katy in MO, the Greenbrier in WV, and the shorter but beautiful VA Creeper--especially east of Damascus. trail under construction, at least in temple hills area...what a mess...no access..

check back in a year. St. Michaels Nature Trail Great views, great trail, and great locationNot a lot of people using it. Air is super fresh. This trail is complete and the link to Michael Cardin trail is now paved so you can ride 11 miles along the C and D Canal. This is exceptionally scenic and if lucky you will see ocean going ships and water birds. You can also lunch at Schaeffer's Canal House and have their delicious crab cakes. The trail starts right at their parking lot. Western Maryland Rail Trail Rode trail East to West and back with a stop in Hancock for a quick bite to eat. Wide trail with 1 - 1.4% grade. Beautiful view of the Potomac River. A very nice 44.7 mile ride, Indian Head Rail Trail A well maintained and care for trail. Perfect views and scenery and will long low grade slopes for a work workout. The trail head at white son has plenty of parking restroom and sir pump machine. the trail end at Indian head. Not much non town but a good pizza place just a few yard in the Main Street
