Tuition, Fees and Discounts The Basic Rider Skills assumes you know nothing about motorcycles. It consists of 16 hours of instruction, four hours in the classroom and 12 hours riding a motorcycle under the supervision of trained instructors. Cost: $50.00 for all riders. The Basic Rider Skills for the Returning Rider (BRS-RR) is for those over 18 years old who have ridden previously or have had a temporary permit for over one year. It is a one-day course, 2 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours riding a motorcycle, under the supervision of trained instructors. Cost: $50.00 for all individuals.

The Experienced Rider Skills (ERS) and Advanced Rider Skills (ARS) offers the experienced rider the opportunity to understand the principles of turning, braking, swerving, street strategies and traction control. These one-day courses offer classroom instruction and/or practicing the advanced principles of motorcycle riding using your own motorcycle. Cost: $50.00 for all individuals, including co-riders in the ERS. (No co-riders in the ARS) Tuition Reimbursement / Discounts In addition to some insurance companies offering 5-20% discounts to MSF alumni, the following manufacturers offer a variety of other incentives to riders. Motorcycle Ohio is not affiliated with, nor endorses any manufacturer, and any questions towards reimbursement must be directed towards the manufacturer. American Suzuki offers $50 to any first-time Basic Rider or Experienced Rider course graduate who also purchases a new street-legal Suzuki motorcycle. Requests for reimbursement must be accompanied by verification of course completion up to six months before or after the bike purchase.

BMW offers full tuition reimbursements with the purchase of a new, street-legal BMW motorcycle, regardless of model year. Training must be completed either six months prior to or six months after the purchase. Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) has their own special incentive for the Basic Rider and Experienced Rider courses. Graduates who are H.O.G. members can receive up to $50 in H.O.G. bonus coupons. Requests for reimbursement must be made within three months of the course date. Honda Riders Club of America (H.R.C.A.) offers a maximum of $75 reimbursement to members. Hyosung Motors is offering $300 off a new motorcycle for taking the Motorcycle Ohio safety course. Independent Motorsports of Columbus, OH offers $50.000 toward the purchase of any in-stock motorcycle to any first-time Basic Rider or Experienced Rider course graduate. Requests for reimbursement must be accompanied by verification of course completion no more than six months before the purchase of the motorcycle.
