Hero Motocorp’s sales were nearly flat in June 2016 with the company registering a meagre Year-On-Year growth of 1.3% at 5,49,533 units as against 5,42,362 units in last June. The company still leads the market by a huge margin and is expecting to have a strong show during the festive season. It was yet another month of strong growth rate for the Japanese automaker which has cemented its second position in India long back and is now in the consolidation phase. Honda clocked 4,27,384 units last month compared to 3,48,808 units in June 2015, a growth of 22.52%. Sales in the domestic market stood at 4,08,141 units which is a 23% growth. At 1,42,702 units, sales of motorcycles improved by 27% compared to the same month last year. Scooter sales last month stood at 265,439 units, a growth of 21%. Bajaj registered sales of 2,73,298 units in June 2016 (including exports). This when compared to sales registered in June 2015 (2,87,582 units), is a 5% decline. Domestic motorcycle sales stood at 1,68,625 units for June 2016 as against 1,54,596 units during the same month last year, increasing by 9%.

Exports during June 2016 declined by 21% to 1,04,673 units as against 1,32,986 units in June 2015.
