Siem Reap International Airport opened in 2006. The airport is located 6 km away from the centre of town. There is an official taxi rank, so when you arrive you can get a taxi or a motor-taxi to town. Independent taxis and motorcycles wait just outside the airport. A scenic, 4-hour motorbike cruise took us through the back roads of the city. It was refreshing to experience the positive energy of village life in Siem Reap, and to observe the daily lives of the Khmer people.
