He allegedly threatened to kill Johnson.Christopher Ritchie, 34, of Paterson, N.J., a Pagan and brother of Glenn Ritchie, pleaded not guilty to making terroristic threats, possession of a knife for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a knife and obstructing police administering the law.Ritchie is accused of threatening to kill Johnson during the fight. He also allegedly moved his brother's injured body to their van, which was driven by Pagan Emma Metzgar, 32, of Dover, N.J.O'Reilly asked the court to tentatively schedule a plea conference for Ritchie around May 16. O'Reilly said he is still negotiating a possible guilty plea agreement with Ritchie's attorney.On July 17, 1994, members of the Tri-County Motorcycle Club held their annual picnic at the Hackettstown Elks Club. The Tri-County Club had held a fund-raising "poker run" road rally at the Elks Lodge for 15 years without a problem, according to Hackettstown officials.During the picnic, eight Pagans arrived, not wearing their "colors."
Witnesses reported a fight broke out between the two groups that escalated from fists to knives to firearms. Vega was shot twice, in the neck and chest, with a 9 mm pistol. Glenn Ritchie's throat wound was from a bullet from the same gun. Johnson was shot with a .25-caliber Beretta pistol. Locke was wounded in the neck and had two fractured vertebrae, also caused by a 9 mm bullet. Riger's neck wound was from a knife.During a search of the crime scene, police found four ax handles, a large stick, 37 folding knives, a hatchet, two large Bowie knives, a K-Bar combat knife, a pipe wrapped with string, a small baseball bat, several handguns and an M-1 carbine, which is classified as an assault weapon in New Jersey.Tri-County member Terrence McGuire, 29, of Madison, N.J., was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of hollow-point bullets. McGuire entered the Pre-Trial Intervention Program.Michael Lauer, 42, of Andover, N.J., also a Tri-County member, had pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of an assault rifle (the M-1 carbine).
