The second Saturday in October of each year is designated as National Motorcycle Ride Day, and this year it falls on 8 October. This day is set aside to encourage motorcyclists all over the world to get out and on their motorcycles for a united day of riding. It also encourages the support of your local motorcycle dealer to spur the local economy’s growth. October is a significant month, not only because the end of the riding season is near, but also because of the first, practical pneumatic tyre being developed by John B Dunlop in 1887. Motorcycles would not be able to perform as they do or be as enjoyable as they are today without this development in tyre technology. National Motorcycle Ride Day was submitted to the National Day Calendar’s Registrar by Chad Greer of Dunlop Tyre North America in August 2015, and was declared for celebration annually on the second Saturday in October. To celebrate, use this day to escape on your motorcycle. Have some fun, relieve some stress and enjoy the offered thrills and freedom that come from riding a motorcycle.

This day accommodates riders of all motorcycle disciplines, no matter what type of motorcycle you own or what type of rider you are. Enjoy this day and the camaraderie that comes along with owning a motorcycle. If you own a motorcycle, you will understand what this day is all about.
