The exhibition, which coincides with the 2017 Detroit International Auto Show, will include original drawings and models created by General Motors designers between 1952 and 2014 , and honor the creative vision of these artists. The exhibition will include a limited number of student drawings. The SC will produce a catalogue for the exhibition, which will include the work of all participating artists and artists whose work is only available digitally. Since its introduction in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette has become the definitive American sports car. The design of this automotive icon took shape at a drafting board with pencil on paper, driven solely by the imagination of artists practicing a unique Detroit art form: automotive design. It is the conceptual art of the Corvette that this exhibition celebrates.Corvette, 7 Generations & Beyond has three parts: an exhibition of rare vintage concept drawings from General Motor’s Corvette Studios, a design competition open to current transportation design students, and an exhibition of Corvette advertising art from the 50s – 90s.
Mid Century Corvette concept art: Automotive design studios were the enclaves of talented visionaries who produced thousands of designs for each car model. The art works they created were trade secrets and routinely destroyed as company policy dictated. Very few examples of Corvette concept art exist.

Examples of Corvette advertising will be exhibited from the collection of Detroit Photographer Jim Secreto. Exhibition curators, John Douglas Peters and Robert Edwards spent the past year organizing the artwork and catalog. This exhibit of Corvette art is the first of its kind and will give recognition to designers of the Corvette and celebrate the most important art form Detroit can claim as its own – automotive concept art. The Scarab Club, whose founding members over one hundred years ago came from Detroit’s newly formed automotive industry can take pride in honoring its roots and furthering the acceptance of automotive concept art as a Detroit art form and as fine art. This is an OPEN car show with 8 classes for non-Corvettes and 7 classes for Corvettes. The car show is held in conjunction with the Brazoria Heritage Day Celebration. The Corvette Chevy Expo has a Large Swap Meet with Major vendors. You will also see World Class Chevrolet Show Cars. This is a concours style judged event is full of awards.
Saturday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Sunday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM The Corvette Chevy Expo’s Aftermarket Showcase features Major Vendors selling parts and accessories specific to the Chevrolet brand. You will also see World Class Chevrolet Show Cars beautifully displayed. The Corvette Chevy Expo is a Concours style judged event, and it is full of awards. Chevrolets that receive 98-100 points also are presented the President’s Award. Corvettes that have an NCRS Top Flight ® and a Bloomington Gold Certificate ® may also go for the Tri-Power Award ®. New this year will be two Wash ‘n Shows, one on Saturday and one on Sunday on the circular driveway in front of the Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis Resort. There is limited space, and pre-registration is required. Once again, Major National Vendors will be returning in the Aftermarket Showcase. Corporate representatives will be on hand to answer your questions about Chevrolet specific aftermarket products.
Many will be offering Free Shipping and Show Specials! You will always find some interesting cars for sale in the Sale Mart. We will also be starting a Craft Fair for the ladies to enjoy in the Spinnaker Hall. Check out their Hand Crafted items for sale. Sunday, at noon, is the Photo Shoot for Vette Vues Magazine. At 3 pm, the Miss Corvette Chevy Expo Swimsuit Contest conducted by Swimsuit USA International takes place in the Yacht Hall, followed by the Awards Ceremony. Free parking in the parking garage. 13th annual “Vette-Together” in beautiful downtown Venice, Florida. Open to the first 165 pre-registered cars. Registration is $30.00 and includes a t-shirt. No day of show registration. Your choice, clean and shine Judged or participants choice awards. Over 55 awards to be given out plus Club participant award and Farthest Traveled Club award.
