The helmet MUST be approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation – meaning you should see a sticker or label on the helmet when you buy it. Other modes of transporation Unlike other states, Ohio’s laws on helmets are the same for motorcycles as they are for other vehicles like bicycles, scooters and mopeds. However, if you aren’t riding on the road, the law is that helmets are NOT required – regardless of your age or licensing.
