Have about 2000 miles on them and this is my first pair of riding pants as I am new to motorcycles. I have about 15,000 miles on bicycles and am finding there is a lot of skills and knowledge that is allowing me to get up to speed pretty quickly. I did a lot of comparison and watched / read all of the reviews I could find of what was on the market and chose the Venture Air 2.0 because the several features I wanted were in one pant: lots of mesh for good air flow, 1680 D seat, 1680 D knees, hip pads, knee armor, rain liner, thermal liner, full length side zippers

, and adjustable knee armor position. I tried on a pair of 2 competitor’s pants at the local shop, but did not think they would give the air flow I needed in the South Carolina heat. Also, the lack of hip armor and the thin seat of these pants did not fit my shopping list. They may have been preferable in other respects in a crash, but it’s all a compromise. I am 5-10, wear 34x30 street pants and these were long enough to cover my boots and reached my ankles in the cruiser riding position. Waist has room, even with the liners installed, to tuck in a light thermal undershirt, 2 pull over long sleeve shirts, 2 short sleeve pullover shirts, about a 1/4 inch thick fleecy type vest and a wind breaker. My jacket is a Joe Rocket Mesh Ion which is why I will need all of the layers when the temp drops. The Ion Mesh Jacket is right airish! The 2 snaps at the waist take the stress off of the zipper and the adjustment on the sides will snug them up or give you more room if needed.

Not sure if the zipper attachment adapters on jackets and pants are supposed to be universal or if it simply does not fit my jacket directly. I had to sew the adapter from each together so the pants would mate to the jacket. No problem hooking them up after putting them on, even with gloves. The stretch panels are well placed and the pants are comfortable to wear and are not a hindrance to bending, stooping or kneeling while checking out last minute details on the bike if you put them on too early in the pre ride cycle. Adding the two liners fills up the excess space, but the pants are still not too snug. Have room plenty of room for some sweat pants when the temps drop into the 30’s. Only takes a minute to install or remove the liners so there is not a hassle to remove them when I get to the office and put them back in when I arrive home to be ready for the next morning. I like the look of the fine weave mesh. Not as much air flow as the course mesh of my jacket but you can feel sufficient flow to keep any sweat evaporated.

Max temp so far is 95 F and I have not found them to be too warm. I’m sure when the summer rolls around and the temp hits 100 + there will be sweaty knees and back side when I get home. The minimum temperature so far has been 42. I have a 1.25 hour commute and with both liners in and wearing a pair of light street pants, my legs are at the “cool” point when I get to work. No air leaks in at the ankles thanks to the generous Velcro strap and the wind seal covering the zipper. On the ride home at 65 deg F I am pretty much at the same comfort point with no liners when I get home. There is a perforated liner so they will feel good if you choose to ride in shorts. This also allows them to slide a bit as you move around. Knee armor fits well and is hardly noticed after settling in on the bike. The hip “pads” were advertised as “armor” but are just a piece of grey foam. I replaced these with a set of Forcefield 4-Layer Replacement Hip Armor which fits the pockets perfectly and feels a lot more secure.

Why the good stuff is not provide from the get go is a mystery to me. Just provide none and let the customer select all of it to suit. If the foam is worth $5 each, then I just threw $10 out the door and added near $40. I would rather pay for the value of the bare pants so an honest cost comparison can be made. BUT, they look ridulous because of their high American cut. They rub bigtime when I walk and I'd feel like a clown if I had to go into a gas station, store, or restaurant because they look like clown pants. Zippers on side catch material. Gators work really well but are a bit complicated because the velcro catches on everything (especially the mesh lining). WAIST SIZE IS TRUE ACCURATE but it'd be better if the thigh and calf were a little slimmer by an inch or two.

The included knee pads aren't exactly top shelf, impact absorbing, but they'll do their job. Less than a week later the fly zipper broke and would not budge. I sent the pants in to RMATV, and they sent them back to Acerbis for an exchange. I opted for the black version this time, and really enjoyed the fit and exterior durability. However, the lining on the pockets is superficial, and it only took one episode of fishing my keys out of my pant leg before I swore off the pockets as useless. Acerbis makes good gear, but its the details that don't come through, as evident with a busted zipper and pant seams that come apart after a few rides.
