Des Moines resident Willy Sears said Elvis keeps watch over him each day when he spends several hours working to repair and restore his classic motorcycles, and the canine will inevitably grow impatient. "He badgers me to go for rides every day," Sears told WKBT-TV.

He said the dog's passion for motorcycle riding started when Sears was working on restoring a sidecar. "Last year, it just kind of happened. I had bought a side car that needed to be refurbished and when I had it taken apart, off the bike he was very interested in it," Sears told KCRG-TV. "I had him sit in it and I'd give him a treat he enjoyed it." Sears said he makes Elvis wear safety goggles, which the canine doesn't love but is willing to tolerate for his daily rides. "My wife felt it was a piece of safety equipment we couldn't go without," Sears said. "He doesn't like them, but he knows he has to have them to ride." I am not even a motorcycle guy but this place was fascinating. Check out the model motorcycles on display. There is an incredibly detailed "rat bike" that will absolutely blow you away. Everything in this museum is first rate! Well worth the trip. Lots of bikes, all kinds not just one brand or another. Motors, and other unique parts. It was fun to see some of the bikes that I have had in the past. Some of what we think is "new" is just an update of what someone did before. This place is a MUST SEE for anyone with passion for the art, history, and RIDE of the motorcycle and its long diverse history! Two reasonable hotels and a huge J&P CYCLES retail superstore within just a few minutes make this a great destination for bikers! My husband, who has Harley Davidson motorcycles and has been a member of this museum for a few years, put seeing this museum at the top of his to do list during our vacation along the Mississippi River. The collection and display are amazing.

They have over 400 motorcycles and early bicycles on display plus hundreds of other items. Being a motorcyclist this is a place I had to visit. really enjoyed it, It was like a trip down memory lane. Vast selection of motorcycles from all eras, some bikes I had never even heard of, Maserati motorcycles for example. I spent a couple of hours here and really enjoyed myself, happy to visit again. There's a Macdonalds next... Seriously a wonderful museum. I am not a motorcycle aficionado by any means, but the history held within the National Motorcycle Museum is incredible. Over 100 years of motorcycle history reside here. Over 400 motorcycles from around the world, Germany, Italy, England, India, US. Advertisements, posters, movies, Evel Knievel, Easy Rider. We came with relatives from England... You might pass this on the highway and never know it was there. You would be making a mistake. This is a first class motorcycle museum. Vintage bikes of all brands and sizes. Original, custom, restored and unrestored bikes.
