Use some kind of adhesive tape instead. If you are not very careful retracting the camera, the collar can easily be stripped off, leaving both the attachment and the collar trapped, possibly inside a cylinder of your car.

It may be easy to retrieve the accessory with a magnet, however, getting the collar back out could be very difficult, depending on the engine design very, very difficult. Purchased this online w/ store pick up and saved $20 over a store purchase. The hand held camera has several contrast settings and the camera whip has 5 or 6 light setting from dim to bright. I used mine at night and was able to trouble shoot a antifreeze clamp that was dripping and an oil leak. Was able to see both visually with eyes using light and also thru the camera screen. Gets a little tricky under a vehicle seeing the camera screen but after adjusting the camera whip and twisting the hand held camera was able to see the screen. I would recommend this a diagnostic tool - was a fair price as probably use that often but nice to have for other reasons - other than auto diagnostics. I got what I ordered with this purchase and am happy with it. This "camera" does not store pictures and allow downloading to a computer, etc.

For $40 more, you might want to consider getting one with downloading capability. Worked great in dark inspection area I purchased this camera so I could work on my car, the first one i got, the LED's in the camera tip didn't work at all. I returned it for another one and when I got it home, the Camera didn't work (but the LED's did) I'm going to return it one more time and try again. Glad I bought the 2 year service plan because I got a feeling I'm going to need it. I can't recommend this product.
