OLYMPIA – The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office in Washington state says Sheriff John Snaza has been critically hurt in a motorcycle crash in Montana. Lt. Tim Rudloff said in a news release that Snaza suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, which happened Tuesday at about 6 p.m. in Sanders County, Montana. Snaza was flown to a hospital in Coeur d’Alene, where he was listed in critical but stable condition on Wednesday. Rudloff says no one else was involved in the crash, and that deputies and employees of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office are devastated.

Snaza has worked for the sheriff’s office since 1993 and was first elected sheriff in 2011. I have been addicted to this sport since day one and have gotten to travel to many riding and racing events with my husband, who has worked in the bike industry for 10 years. My experience includes racing in the expert class in all styles of riding (Downhill, XC and Enduro). However, my focus is now getting more women out on the trails, because mountain biking to me is not only about having fun and getting fitness … it’s a great confidence booster as well! My passion for guiding and instructing is so great that I have recently received my Professional Mountain Bike Instructor level one certification so as to reach my goal in guiding and teaching women in this sport. I am also a mom to a rambunctious almost 1-1/2 year old daughter who is my world. I want to be an example to her and other young girls of what it is to be a leader and a woman who loves the outdoors. I want to show women that mountain biking is not just for the guys. I want to show them the great outdoors through the view of a mountain bike as well as bringing them fitness and joy.
