A great place for breakfast or lunch, right in the heart of North Conway village. Note: Some of our favorite roads are US Forest Service roads so they may not be open all the time, especially early and late in the riding season. For the status of roads like the infamous Hurricane Mountain Road, Bear Notch Road, Old Cherry Mountain Road, Evans Notch, and Jefferson Notch Road, use this link to the White Mountain National Forest website. (Rte 112 from Lincoln, NH to Conway, NH). Forty miles of slowly ascending and descending curves, switchbacks, and sweepers, the eastern half of which is along the rocky, aptly named Swift River. The Kanc (rhymes with Hank) is a nationally renowned scenic highway and NH's most famous wilderness road. Kancamagus Pass at the top is at 2890 feet. and scenic Pinkham Notch (Rte 16N from North Conway, NH to Gorham, NH). The Auto Road to the top of Mount Washington (6288 feet above sea level) opens daily starting the week of May 9th (weather permitting).
Rte 302 from Glen, NH up through spectacular Crawford Notch to the Mount Washington Hotel and Resort. Crawford Notch with its sheer rock cliffs and high, cascading waterfalls is a breathtaking ride. At the top, turn into the long, winding driveway for the Mount Washington Hotel and Resort, the greatest of the truly grand old hotels of the White Mountain. Its immense lobby, elegant dining room, wraparound porch, and great views are well worth a quick visit. (Rte 113 from Whitehorse on East Conway Rd to Gilead, ME on Rte 2). A lightly-travelled, canopied two-laner that is everyone's favorite day ride. Check out The Basin on the south side of the notch. You may also want to visit the Loki Clan Wolf Refuge, a non-profit shelter, located on a dirt road about five miles up East Conway Rd (Rte 113) from Whitehorse. Approx 100 wolves and wolfdogs are in residence. We suggest a $10-$20/person donation for the guided tour. from Rte 113 at South Chatham, NH to Kearsarge, NH. About fifteen minutes from Whitehorse, this is the closest New Hampshire comes to the Alps.
