Walton and Destin: To keep our guests safe, a number of safety procedures have been established for climbing the lighthouse tower. Climbers must be 44” or taller. Children may not be carried up the tower, even in secure carriers. Shoes must have a secure back (no flip-flops!), and may not have a spike heel. No smoking, food, drink, pets, or wet clothing are permitted in the tower or museum. Backpacks, camera bags, and other oversized bags must be left in your vehicle, as they cannot be taken into the museum or tower, and cannot be left in the gift shop. Pensacola Lighthouse & Museum offers climbing tours of the landmark 1859 lighthouse.

The Richard C. Callaway Museum in the restored 1869 keeper's quarters offers local history exhibits including: Civil War history, U.S. Coast Guard history, the first Pensacola Lighthouse, maritime history, and local archaeology. Also available are a museum store, after-hours tours and events, children’s programs, weddings, and special events. The Pensacola Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Spend a Day on the Base The Lighthouse is located right across the street from the National Naval Aviation Museum, the world's largest Naval Aviation museum and one of the most-visited museums in the state of Florida. Also nearby is Historic Fort Barrancas. This fort was constructed between 1839-1844 to protect the Pensacola Navy Yard.
