What's different about them is they're not as high-priced as one might expect because they're not new.Owner Craig Hornsby, who owns another Prestige lot that sells midpriced used cars, caters to two markets.Louis Beall, a Tallahassee dentist and race car driver, hasn't bought a car from anyone but Hornsby since 1984."I buy cars all the time. I'm a car nut. . . . He has always treated me so fairly."Hornsby sells about 65 cars a month at both lots; gross sales last were pegged at $14 million.The motorcycle and the Jag convertible define Hornsby's style."What I try to do is keep something that is different, something out of the norm. It's a draw for me. I'll solicit whatever is new and hot in the marketplace," Hornsby said.The first car Beall bought from Hornsby was a 1984 930 Porsche. It wasn't approved for sale in this country because of environmental restrictions. But Hornsby found it in Germany and fitted it with a catalytic converter. Beall's been one happy customer since.Hornsby, 45, is a native of Tallahassee.

He has always had a passion for cars.He met his wife, Colby, when she pulled into a repair shop in a Jaguar. It was 1984 and Hornsby was at the shop getting five cars that he'd just bought checked out. It was the beginning of his used-car business."What I sell is fun," said Hornsby. "Most people would sooner take a physical beating than buy a new car."Prestige doesn't look like the typical auto showroom. Stylish with black and white tile and lots of plants, it cost $150,000 to build, compared with $1.7 million for the luxury lot.From the beginning, Hornsby decided customer service would set him apart.For instance, customers can test-drive his cars for a few hours, even take one home overnight, return it the next day and try another car.
