Co-sponsored by the NC Motorcycle Safety Education Program, this course teaches the skills needed to operate a motorcycle safely in traffic.  The class is designed for new riders and for re‑entry riders, however, experienced riders have also found it to be very beneficial.   Students learn the location and operation of the controls of the motorcycle and practice riding to demonstrate that they have the strength, balance and coordination to perform straight-line riding, shifting, turning, and stopping exercises.  Students will learn street riding strategies needed for riding on the highway in traffic, as well as skills to avoid accidents – including emergency braking, swerving and proper cornering techniques. With successful completion of the BRC, you will earn a skills waiver card for the NC DMV.  This means that the DMV will not require you to take their motorcycle riding test.  However, you will still be required to visit your local DMV office, present your skills waiver card, and take the DMV written exam before being issued a motorcycle endorsement.
