Aug 16, 2016 Helpful (1) Pros >Some great people to work with.>Decent discounts on gear. Cons >Constant leadership change -3 presidents in 2 years.>Upper management is insulated from everyone else.>Constantly changing/unclear direction.>Pay below local competitive wages.>Parent company isn't willing to invest in brand. Jun 20, 2016 Helpful (2) I worked at Motorcycle Superstore full-time Pros 1. Above average benefits for full-time employees.2. Discount on motorcycle parts and accessories.3. A few knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate colleagues. Inept management at the upper echelon, in virtually every segment, from IT, to operations, marketing, merchandising, and finance. To be fair, there are one or two leaders who have competency, however they are in the minority.2. Majority of employees are devoid of fundamental motorcycle industry knowledge that's key to success in the powersports world.3. These same people fail/resist to actively seek knowledge that could aid them in their career, and more importantly help them make more effective decisions.4.
Management's failure to learn from directional mistakes, and on the contrary, implement previous successful techniques.5. Management takes advantage of the “blame game” to shrug off errors in judgement. No repercussions for erroneous decisions, that at other organizations, would necessitate immediate action, including termination. Advice to Management Management itself is the principal obstacle. Carefully calculated re-structuring beginning at the very top is necessary to right this sinking ship. Even with overhauled ethos, proper leadership, and a knowledgeable, driven work force, it could take multiple years for this outfit to see any tangible improvement extending beyond finance. The community relies on everyone sharing – Add Anonymous Review May 13, 2016 Helpful (3) I worked at Motorcycle Superstore (Less than a year) Pros -Many employees are enthusiastic about motorcycles-Discounts on motorcycle gear-The president, Keven Strawbridge, is a well-meaning guy, but he seems either clueless or incapable at handling the management staff Cons -Management is truly incompetent.
It doesn't help that many people in management lack a college level education. You will consistently bang your head in the wall at their ineptitude.-The company's competition is completely destroying them and they have no idea how to fix it. It really was truly embarrassing.-Lots and lots of turnover while I was there. People realize there are problems that can't be fixed and then they leave, while other people were fired without warning (usually as scapegoats for people in management)-Nepotism on all levels. You will find people people from the same family all over the company. One VP's son is notably incompetent and lazy, which everyone at the company realizes, but nobody can do anything about it because of his daddy.-I caught my manager redheaded in outright lies in what appeared to be attempts to trick his employees into admitting wrongdoing.-Notable sexism and racism at the office. Minorities need not apply. Seriously, this was a big problem. We're talking backwoods type people in management.
Advice to Management Attend night classes at your local community college in order to get a better grasp of how the world works. Jan 6, 2016 Helpful (3) I worked at Motorcycle Superstore full-time Pros Used to be an amazing collaborative work environment but in recent years the company has been in a downward spiral. Cons Since the new ownership has taken over and leadership has changed this place has no direction and has lost all care for their employees. Advice to Management Fire yourself and allow for new leadership to take over. Nov 12, 2015 Pros Has been a great place to work. Cons They decided to move the corporate office to Dallas, TX Dec 9, 2014 Helpful (1) I worked at Motorcycle Superstore full-time (More than 3 years) Pros Schedule was good and they DID work around days off or leaving early. Decent pay for job. Decent benefits but going downhill. Cons Poor management (overtime for 3 days and home early for 2 so you won't work over 40 hours and don't get paid for working 12-14 hours.).
Seasonal growth and decline. Advice to Management Some management needs evaluated. There is a reason for high turnover rate. Sep 5, 2014 I have been working at Motorcycle Superstore full-time (More than 3 years) Pros Great team members who are willing to mentor and help people learn.Excellent Benefits- about the best in the Rogue Valley.Newly formed social committee to make work fun and give back to the community.Beautiful building and work environment. Cons Lots of change due to recent merger, hopefully will be better once it settles.Could use some better internal communications. Advice to Management More clear path of career progression and learning opportunities would be great, maybe tuition reimbursement as well.Really appreciate the Town Hall (company information meetings). It is nice to get a view of the big picture and what other teams are doing. Jul 19, 2014 Helpful (4) I have been working at Motorcycle Superstore full-time Pros Decent benefits- health insurance, 401k matching, employee discount.
Nice office space, although cubicles. The longer your employment the better and worse it is- depending on manager for the better part. Cons Company is going through growing pains. Working on transparency but failing miserably at it. Most of the management not very qualified to handle the growth. Too many meetings about meetings to set up more meetings! Not open to new ideas. Sexism is still prevalent in the workplace. Aug 13, 2014 Helpful (1) I have been working at Motorcycle Superstore full-time (More than 3 years) Pros 20 employees ride motorcycles and most coworkers and pretty cool. Location and office layout is nice. Cons The other 100 employees do not ride motorcycles or know anything about them. The pay is very low. They promise raises and salary increases but pay cuts take place instead . Within the past year they've laid off 30-40 good, low-paying employees just to continue funding the six-figure salaries of management. Working with upper management is a joke. There are so many egotistical personalities between the President, GM, 10+ VP's and 20+ Directors, it's quite tough to be heard.
