When this tire is new, I have complete trust in it in any condition, sand, mud, clay or rocks, doesn't matter, this tire will hook. However, when the square edge rounds off, the performance of this tire drops quickly but the tread life is very good. I have the AT81 on front and back. This tire is awesome. I can go down to low pressure and ride all day, never have had a flat. I do use the ultra-heavy duty tubes. The tire has excellent tread life. I just put a new set on, only because I am racing some Harescrambles and wanted to have new tires. Guess what, I ended up passing him on a hill where he got stuck. I had no problems, could have thought I had a new set of treads on. I will always use AT81's until they come up with a better tire. This is the second rear for my 2012 WR450F and has great traction and seems to last very good over a wide variety of terrain. Excellent all around tire. First thing I noticed with this tire is how it absorbs high-speed hits from rocks and logs. Traction is as best as it gets over anything you encounter here in the northeast. I'm more of a Hard Enduro rider and I can get out of virtually any snag I get caught in with minimal wheelspin. I ran the non-RC style at the Ought Six Enduro last Saturday. Ran it with Tubliss at 6 PSI on my Beta 300RR. The Enduro turned out to be a mud bath since it rained all night before the race. I was shocked at how well this combination hooked up in the mud. Going up steep, muddy hills I was sure would be a spin fest. It grabbed and clawed and made the conditions much easier to negotiate.

I hate buying tires at the price they are today. For $107.00, plus tax and mount at our local shop, I was sure hoping for some BANG for my buck. After a weekend hill climbing session from sand to rocks, I am sold. This tire gave me the confidence to climb higher and safer than the three years prior. Two days of hard core beating, this tire does show slight wear, but no chunks missing irregularities, etc. I have rode two sixty mile rides. The tire has preformed very well. I ran the NEW AT81 "RC" REAR and the TUBLISS system as low as 3-4psi (due to the extra HD stiff sidewalls. I swear I didn't even feel like I was braking that hard. Once I even felt the IRC give in momentarily while turning on a wet street. After the 20ft wheel lock incident I bought these tires and had an incident where I braked hard on WET pavement. These tires are 100% worth it (from a commuter standpoint at least).
