Katy couple killed in Seawall motorcycle crash ID'd Authorities have identified the two pedestrians who died late Thursday after a motorcycle hit them as they walked along the Galveston Seawall on the first day of this year's Lone Star Rally. Elias Chavana, 33, of Katy, was killed in the crash, according to John Florence, of the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office. Chavana's girlfriend, 29-year-old Patricia Delgado, of Katy, also perished. The incident happened about 10:20 p.m. in the 5200 block of Seawall Boulevard across from the entrance of The San Luis Hotel and Conference Center. Thursday was the start of the three-day Lone Star Rally weekend, an annual biker festival that draws an estimated 250,000 riders to Galveston Island. Texas Department of Public Safety and the Galveston Police Department created the #ShareTheRoad hashtag and public safety campaign – pushed on social media – to reduce accidents by enthusiasts and revelers during the gathering.

Galveston Police Sgt. R. Franco said the two pedestrians were trying to cross the road when a motorcycle traveling westbound slammed into the couple. The man driving the bike and his female passenger were rushed to a University of Texas Medical Branch hospital. According to a Galveston police news release issued Friday afternoon, both remained in critical condition. Their identities were not released. The crash remains under investigation.
