The procedure is to adjust the position of the MotoTote MTX Platform (the big cross beam) toward the vehicle which will expose the hitch ball hole. You can sort of see this in the graphic at the top of page 2 of the instructions. The max wheel base is 65 inches. For further information, please refer to the MotoTote Sport Spec Sheet. You will need to do the following: 1. Be sure you are using the flange nuts at the connection of the MTX Platform to the square tube that goes into the hitch. 2. Tighten the nuts until all the metal is compressed together and the play is eliminated. This should be doable with a normal ratchet or wrench. You should not need a breaker bar or special wrench.
