Rosenberg PoliceOperation "Slow Down #2" Rosenberg: Starting Tuesday February 7th through Wednesday February 8th, 2017, between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm, the Rosenberg Police Department, will be conducting Operation “Slow Down #2.”

This will be a traffic enforcement operation on US Hwy 59 in the City of Rosenberg. The operation is an initiative being enacted to increase public safety and reduce crashes that have been occurring on U.S. Highway 59 in the city limits of Rosenberg. Office...rs will also have a higher presence on feeder roads along U.S. Highway 59. Due to the higher number of Officers and traffic stops in this area over these days, it is important to remember the Texas “Move Over Law” (Transportation Code 545.157). The law states a driver must either vacate the lane closest to the stopped emergency vehicle if the road has multiple lanes traveling in the same direction or slow down 20 miles per hour below the speed limit. (If the speed limit is below 25 mph the driver must slow down to 5 mph.) Emergency vehicles include police, emergency medical services, and fire vehicles. A violation is punishable by a maximum fine of $200. If the violation results in property damage, the maximum fine increases to $500.

If the violation results in bodily injury, the offense is enhanced to a Class B misdemeanor.
