Disappointed in Very Low Safety Certification I was very excited about this helmet and I bought it assuming it was the same Shoei workmanship I have relied on for over well two decades. Despite having amazing features -- pull-down sun visor, redesigned vents and flow, redesigned internal padding, etc. -- I was extremely disappointed to discover that it has only a DOT safety certification.

I was assuming it would have at least the Snell safety certification that the RF helmets have had going back to at least the early 1990s, but it does not. I'm sorry, but my brain is too valuable to risk in exchange for awesome style features. I returned the helmet, and I will now be looking for another helmet that provides the safety features my brain deserves. I hope that Shoei can increase the safety certification for this new helmet -- I'm not even looking for a SHARP certification, as a Snell would be good enough for me. better than a scorpion have not had any fogging issues once i put pinlock device on sheild. it is quieter than the scorpion i was using. the air duct on the front is a little hard to operate with gloves on but can be done. the internal sun visor is awesome almost as easy to operate as on the scorpion. overall seems to be a better design than the helmets i have used in the past. Probably the best helmet that I own Wanted something with sun visor and have great trust in Shoei helmets.

Sizing is spot on, comfortable and good airflow. Best helmet I have ever owned ! It fits true, it's quiet and I appreciate the integral sun shield. Even though it is fitted with the anti fog layer it fogs up easily! -Airflow is very good. When opening all three vents, chin, front-top, back-top you can really feel the air flowing past your head. -Aero on this helmet is really good. With my head sticking out at 80 there is a shockingly low amount of drag pulling my head back. -Granted it's an expensive helmet. You could prob get close to the same features and protection for ~300 with other brands like Scorpion, but all in all if you're looking for a high quality helmet this helmet won't let you down.Helmet is very quiet and light weight.Good build quality and quiet! I upgraded from a Shoei Qwest primarily for the benefit of greater air flow and the internal visor - very pleased with the decision. Air flow is materially better and the internal sun visor very convenient.

One difference I did notice right away is that the back of the helmet has a spoiler effect to it making it more difficult to turn your head from side to side at high speed. Not a big negative but a difference. I ride a Kawasaki Concours sport tourer. Best helmet I have ever owned I have owned about ten different helmets: 3/4, modular, and full-faced. This Shoei is by far the best of the lot. The fit is perfect, the air flow is good with the three vents, and it is quite. I ride almost everyday in Texas, and buy a new helmet every few years. I will always by Shoei now. Typical great Shoei quality. Fit is excellent, cooling air flow can be felt through my hair, pinlock is excellent as always, the drop-down sun shield is a great feature and overall I could not be more pleased. I have owned Shoei helmets for years from RF1000, X11, X12 and now the GT-Air. You can't go wrong with Shoei and Motorcycle Superstore. It's funny how they put "air" in the name because I think it has less air flow than any of my other Shoeis.

The pinlock shield is included because the shield fogs up even in slightly cool conditions without it. The pinlock is required even though the instructions say not to use it at night. The helmet is great. Fits great, no noisier or quieter than any other helmet and the internal sunshield is awesome. I ride every day and the sun visor is really handy and works smoothly. Nice and quiet Helmet Good fit for a narrow head. Really quiet and comfortable helmet, perfect for a whole days riding at highway speed. Sun shield works fine and is great for changing light conditions. Best helmet I ever had, will try to get one for my wife too eventually. I've owned an RF1100 and an RF800 before this. They were great helmets, but this one is even better. It is the quietest helmet I've ever owned. The top of the shield opening is a little higher than the RF1100 giving you a better view, and the padding and fit are great. The vent system is fine - no better or worse than the previous Shoei's I've worn.

The sun shield is the perfect finishing touch. This helmet is worth every penny. Very Happy with my Shoei After trying on every Shoei and Arai helmet, along with a bunch from other brands (Scorpion, HJC, Nolan, Shark, Z1R), I went with the GT-Air. Wanted a drop down visor to deal with changing light on long rides, something safe, high quality that will last, an aggressive full face look but works with my hog, and my dome is a bit tough to fit (long and narrow, usually right between L and XL). Very happy I did. It's very quiet, feels great as its broken in (initially tight at forehand but well spaced out), and looks good. It is pricey, but you pay for quality/safety. The airflow at the face is a bit tight vs. my old helmet, need the pin lock installed and will keep playing to find best combo of breath guard, chin curtain, etc.. Highly suggest everyone go try things on, what I thought I would get initially wasn't this, what fits for you is what wins. Fit and finish are great, it's a really well put together lid.
