I'm digging this star print they have this season." -BeeMarch 4, 2014, 1:11 pm Wonder how to work catwalk cool into your own closet? Here’s how to translate the trends for real life. Whether you’re a Sturgis regular, really love the TV show “Sons of Anarchy,” have a thing for leather or just adore a great fashion trend, the moto (that’s short for motorcycle) jacket just may have to be your next big style purchase. Perfect for spring, and a staple on the fashion runways of Jean Paul Gaultier, AllSaints, Ferragamo, Antonio Bernardini and many others, the jacket looks chic in everything from tweed to, of course, leather, and is especially seasonal in white or pastel shades.

We love spring’s moto jackets paired over a feminine dress, worn with slacks at the office or with jeans at night. Ready to ride the trend? It’s time to get your moto running. THE RUNWAY: Richard Chai, spring 2014 Possibly the coolest way ever to toughen up a soft tangerine and white spring ensemble? A quilted white leather moto jacket. We love this look for day, but would definitely pair the jacket with black jeans and T-shirt after hours, too. In a word: fab. White on: Love your black leather jacket in fall? Pick up a white version for spring. It’s still edgy, but somehow feels light. And look for unique details – zipper stripes, denim fabric, perforated sleeves to really show some moto style. Pastels, please: Worried you’ll ruin your white jacket with coffee stains or little kids’ fingerprints? Reach for a pastel version. In soft shades of pink, orange, yellow, blue – you name it, your moto takes on a more girlie vie, without losing its toughness.

Print it out: Love a great spring pattern – floral, stripes, dots? Pick up a moto jacket featuring your favorite print for an instant warm-weather feel that also adds a little whimsy to the typically tough style.Follow her on Instagram @shopathome. The designer dished on her bestselling moto jacket, her inspiration for the new styles, and some super-helfpul advice for the SHEfinds reader on choosing her new coat for fall. Read it now:SHEfinds: Your leather moto jacket is so cult! Tell us about it. Rebecca Taylor: Our leather jacket is garment washed, which really offers the customer the softest supple leather, and it’s lined with jersey making it extremely comfortable.SF: Is the popularity of the moto one of the reasons you decided to expand your outerwear collection? RT: I’ve always had outerwear in my collections, but this season I really wanted to expand our outerwear and offer the Rebecca Taylor girl a coat or jacket for every occasion.

SF: What is the inspiration for the new styles?RT: The collection was created with a focus on luxury and function. I wanted each piece to marry modern femininity with comfort and offer unique cuts and silhouettes in unexpected colorways.SF: What should a woman look for when choosing a new coat for fall?RT: I would say having a coat that keeps you warm is the most important thing. It’s also important to think about the layers you’ll be wearing underneath your coat–make sure there’s enough room if you plan to wear chunky knits. In a lot of areas, the winter season can feel like a very long time. A coat is a staple piece that carries you through the season–you need something that’s going to last.SF: What details are you loving for outerwear this season?RT: I’m really loving unique embroideries, beautiful embellishments, and faux fur details.SF: What style details should a woman look for when shopping for a coat this season?RT: I think it’s important for a woman to feel special and confident in whatever she wears.
