MUCH BETTER THAN IRC ROADWINNER (ninja 250 stock tire) I rode a '12 Ninja 250r with the stock tires (IRC road winner) for a year and half, discovering how slippery they were on DRY roads. Rear wheel locked three times: once in moderately heavy emergency brake ("snaked" for about 20 ft), and twice on medium brake. motorcycle superstore ctI swear I didn't even feel like I was braking that hard. aachen motorcycle shopOnce I even felt the IRC give in momentarily while turning on a wet street. After the 20ft wheel lock incident I bought these tires and had an incident where I braked hard on WET pavement. These tires are 100% worth it (from a commuter standpoint at least). I can't speak for tread life since I've only ridden a couple hundred miles in. I ride a 94' ZX1100 Ninja almost everyday.
I have found for my sport bike these Q3's are about the best I have found. Cornering up in Angeles Crest Hwy. or ripping through the snake in Malibu they feel like they are glued to the road. They also heat up very quickly. I usually get between 7-8k out of them. I am not doing burn outs but I am doing hard braking, acceleration, and cornering. I keep them inflated for daily driving at max psi then drop a couple pounds for the tight corner days. At speed they are rock solid. Excellent response of traction under hard braking setting up for a deep corner. I gave them a four star for tread wear but for a super tacky and great confidence builder what can expect on tread wear. I have been in rain a handful of times and they have excellent wet grip as well. This is my third set and the first turn I dipped into I could easy feel the difference in feedback. If you have a heavier sport bike I would give these a shot....great price too. Really Quick delivery ! , was recommended for front wheel use , backwards rotation , going double darkside , we'll see about rating stars later : I bought spare wheels for darkside use and have yet to put them on , not to mention being in middle of Michigan winter.
J.R. (Clinton Twp ) Shinko 230 Tour Master Excellent tire for vintage bikes. I highly recommend them to my customers and folks on all the web sites I visit. These have a higher speed rating than competitive tires at a fraction of the cost. I have them on my own bikes and I'm impressed by their handling characteristics. Paul Van Hout (Auburn ) Great all round sports tire! Q3s have been a great tire for my 2011 KTM RC8R. Predictable for the 3-4 track days I do a year (intermediate pace); surprising mileage and handle various road and weather conditions. I commute on my 2014 FRJ1300 and put 350 miles a week on my bike. Needless to say, longevity is important to me. I am on my second set of PR4 GTs. Even commuting and touring, I got 11,000 miles on the last set. Great feel, handling and wet road grip. CHOOSING THE RIGHT TIRE! Knowing what type od tire you need is a big thing to remember. Having this know how can come from years of buying tires, or by simply asking your local tire salesman. Tires are made by the style of driving, whether it be for speed or distance driving, wet, dry or all season weather conditions. If you live in Florida, you will want a superior wet driving tire, with a dash of all season grip. For those northern climates you will want a tire that has great snow/sleet rating. Having the right style of tire will save you time, money, and costly repairs. Knowing your tire size can save you time and help you to make an informed purchase. Your vehicle's original tire size can be found in your owner's manual or on the tire label located on the driver's doorjamb, glove box lid, or inside the fuel hatch.
Tire Width: The three-digit number refers to the overall width of the tire in millimeters. Aspect Ratio: The relationship between the tire height and width. In this example, the tire height is approximately 60% of the tire width. Radial: The letter "R" indicates a radial construction of the carcass plies. The carcass plies run across the tire from lip to lip, helping to provide strength, stability, flexibility, and ride comfort. Wheel Diameter: The number indicates that this tire fits on a wheel with a 16-inch diameter. Load Index: The load index can range from 0 to 279 and indicates how much weight the tire is certified to carry at maximum inflation pressure. Never buy a tire with a lower load index than your vehicle's original tire. Speed Rating*: The speed rating tells you the top speed at which the tire can operate. Speed ratings range from Q (lowest) to Z (highest) with one exception: the H rating falls between U and V.To maintain the speed capabililty of a vehicle, use replacement tires with ratings equal or greater than those of the original tires.
