When: Friday, November 11th, 2016 6:30-9:30PM Where: Freewheel Cycle, 9 King St. W. Cost: $30 in advance and $40 day of! There is limited space so please register early! Freewheel would like to congratulate our resident women’s offroad cycling advocate and instructor extraordinaire, Mari Evans, for being selected for Trek’s new international Women’s Advocate Program. The women’s cycling community continues to grow everyday thanks to advocacy and coaching from riders like Mari. The Trek Women’s Advocate Program aims to grow women’s offroad cycling and further build the relationship between shops and riders through organizing rides, women’s cycling events, and clinics throughout North America. Trek Women’s Advocates will be stimulating relevant discussion on social media to spread the word about how awesome more women riding mountain bikes can be. Avid women mountain bikers from all over North America applied to participate in Trek’s advocacy program, and of the 250 applicants, 55 were chosen for their exceptional involvement in their local cycling community, as well as their strong leadership and infectiously positive personalities.
Local off-road riders who have met and ridden with Mari over the past 15 years know she is well qualified for this expanded cycling advocacy role. Many of you met her through our very own Women’s Learn-to-MTB Weekend events. As part of the program, Mari has been invited to Trek headquarters in Waterloo, WI to experience the culture that has made Trek the company that it is today. We think she’ll fit in perfectly! Freewheel Cycle and Trek are both excited to see the Trek Women’s Advocate Program in action. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for news about upcoming women’s social rides, events and clinics. Few other road bikes offer the same incredible value as the Trek Emonda S4. This bike is perfect for entry and intermediate road riders who refuse to compromise comfort or performance. The frame is crafted from expertly engineered 300 Series OCLV carbon. This means that you can expect an incredibly comfortable ride, however the frame has been beefed up at key points to optimize power transfer and control.
The bike is sensibly outfitted with Shimano’s Tiagra components. The shift levers feature Shimano STI shifting, so the motions to shift the gears are the same as Shimano’s higher end components. Tiagra’s performance is unmatched at this price point. The frame geometry is based on Trek’s H2 fit, meaning that the rider is positioned with a less aggressive posture. This means that you can stay comfortable on those longer rides. Visit us at Freewheel, and we will size you up to the right road bike that fits your needs. Don’t forget to bring your helmet, shoes and favourite riding clothes for your test ride (or you may borrow one of our demo helmets). The Trek Precaliber series of kids’ bicycles make riding fun! Unlike a lot of children’s bikes out there, Precalibers are real mountain bikes, just scaled down for smaller riders. The frames are made of lightweight and durable aluminum. Keeping the weight down on bikes for kids is really important because the riders themselves don’t weigh much.
