Parking - Frequently Asked Questions This section is intended to address common myths and questions about parking on the SCC Campus. The best rule of thumb to follow: parking is by PERMIT or METER only. If you have questions, you can always call the SCC Office of Campus Safety at 533-8624. Follow this link for Chapter 132Q-20 WAC, Traffic Rules and Regulations. (509) 533-8624, Building 1, Room 147NOTE: Spokane Community College, in an effort to reduce the number of repeat offenders, will begin using a vehicle immobilization device (commonly known as a boot) on vehicles that meet certain criteria. The following circumstances would make a vehicle "boot eligible":
1 unpaid parking citation on a vehicle with an out-of-state license plate and the owner is unknown 3 unpaid citations on an account or the equal dollar amount of 3 minimum fines 3 citations issued to a vehicle in 5 academic days If during a probationary period after meeting with the Associate Dean of Student Services for Student Development the individual violates his or her agreement with the associate dean At the direction of the President of SCC or designee For the boot to be removed, the following would need to happen: A removal fee of $30 and all outstanding fines would have to be paid at the Cashiers' Office. Proof of payment would then be provided to the SCC security office and the boot would be removed. If the Cashiers' Office is closed, the offender may sign a contract agreeing to pay the fee and all fines within one business day. If the offender does not pay the fee and fines in full within one business day, the vehicle will
again become "boot eligible." If the offender's vehicle is booted a second time prior to paying the fee and fines, an additional $50 fee will be assessed for the second boot removal. For information about the college's rights regarding the use of vehicle boots, please see the following Parking at SCC is by permit or paid meter only. The following permits are available for people who qualify for them: Parking in this area requires a faculty permit for the current quarter or school year. This permit allows the holder to park in any Faculty area. Parking in this area requires a student permit for the current quarter or school year. This permit allows the holder to park in any Student parking space. Student parking in orange areas is not always available. To park in a Handicapped area, the driver must display his or her State Handicapped permit as well as a current permit. Those displaying both permits can park in any Handicapped area or Faculty area.
Anyone may park at a meter; however, the meter must be paid, regardless of any other permit(s) displayed. Motorcycles are required to park within designated motorcycle stalls on campus and must also display a current parking permit sticker. The campus parking map shows the approximate location of relevant parking areas. Be sure to comply with parking regulations such as fire lanes, loading zones, etc., and other, as signs indicate or law requires. Another parking permit option on the SCC campus is to purchase a permit good for one day at one of the two Parkeon parking kiosks. One kiosk is located on the west side of the tennis courts near the Lair, Building 6 (pictured). The second kiosk is located in the P-11 parking lot, south of the Max Snyder Building Building 50). To use a kiosk, you simply: Press the green button. Remove the day permit from the kiosk. Park in a student or faculty lot. Place the permit on your dashboard so the date is visible.
