Highlighted here are the Hutchinson Cobra, Toro and Squale. Also on display at the Hutchinson booth was the new 27.5″ versions of the Cobra, Cougar and Toro. Mick likes running the Hutchinson Cobra on the rear for his race rig. Mick calls the Cobra a semi-slick tire that is “stable and rolls fast but also provides good cornering and traction”. Mick also runs the Hutchinson Toro on the front of his race bike because it’s more aggressive knobs provide increased traction for braking and cornering. Team mate Fabien Cousinié likes to run the more aggressive DH tire, the Hutchinson Squale. It has a fast rolling section that makes the tire really efficient but with super burly side knobs that give a lot of grip. In fact, besides being a racer, Fabien also has a mechanical engineering degree and was an integral part of the development of the Squale. All 3 tires feature the Hutchinson “Hardskin Technology”. Hardskin is made from a reinforced casing using a flexible and very dense textile grid.
