This museum is not very large, and the opening hours are hopeless, but check when it is open and go there. They exhibit one of the most amazing 500cc racers, the Moto-Guzzi V8 which was 10 to 15 years before its time, and before metals and technicals were up to it. The variety of items are good, they show Guzzi's... An Amazing world of motoguzzi. An embracing motorbike's world. Can tick this off the bucket list; I absolutely loved the museum, but then, I'm a Guzzi fan, owner, rider.... But then, my companion is not a fan, and he liked it too! The town of Mandello is adorable, by the way. Spend a night at at B&B (Like La Coccinella) and take in the village sights. Open form 3:00 to 4:00 daily and free to the public, this is one of those off beat amazing places that should be on your bucket list. If you like history and love motorcycles then go. Get there at 3:00 because the gates may close and you won't get in. From Carlo Guzzi's first motorcycle that he built in 1919... Such a wonderful collection of historic Moto Guzzi bikes and in a beautiful location near Lake Como. My only concern is the limited opening hours and the need to check opening dates etc due to closure over the holiday season. This was a treat to myself. I had previously read reviews of the Museum and I was aware of its main problem ie being open for only 1 hour in the afternoons!
I had arrived on public transport, having caught the train from Milan and changed at Lecco to a local service. The Station at Mandello del lario is literally... We advice you to go in the morning if you want to take your time, since you have so to see. Whereas us, we went in the afternoon but one hour is too short, we thougth that it will be ok for us. But this is a passionate historical Family Guzzi museum and the time runs so fast... We came to Mondello del lario especially to see the museum. A must for any motorcycle fan, A history from the beginning including the infamous V8 moto guzzi.racer. The only draw back is it is only open Monday to Friday from 3pm-4pm but well worth a vist. Entrance to the museum is free and you are able to go round... We came to Mandello del lario in particular to visit the Guzzi museum. Excellent, we were not disappointed as we have a T3 1978 but were a bit surprised to find it was not there. ......ours is for sale ....maybe they couldn't afford it!!!!!
