The man rode through a stop sign at the intersection of Girard Street near Poppy Drive about 1:20 p.m., according to a California Highway Patrol news release.

The front tire of the motorcycle hit a curb at the northwest corner of the intersection, causing the rider to be ejected. He came to rest in some bushes on the roadside, and was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP spokesman Officer Darren Meyer described the motorcycle as a "pocket bike" -- smaller than a typical motorcycle and possibly built from a kit.
