The San Bernardino County Coroner reports that Slater’s 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan was westbound on Highway 138 about 2:35 p.m., just west of Summit Valley Road in Hesperia. The report indicated that Slater was passing traffic on the left, and struck the side of the vehicle pulling into the parking lot of a store. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
