IN 2016 BUTCH'S SPORTS WORLD IS CELEBRATING 28 YEARS IN BUSINESS. BUTCH AND ANNA HEROLD STARTED THE BUSINESS IN 1988 ON A CARD TABLE ON THE BACK PORCH OF THEIR HOUSE, WHILE A 10' X 20' CORNER OF A BARN WAS BEING REMODELED FOR THE ARCHERY SHOP ON THE HEROLD FARM. AT THAT TIME IT WAS CALLED BUTCH'S ARCHERY. IN 1990 THE HEROLD'S MOVED THEIR BUSINESS TO DOWN TOWN PALMYRA WHERE AN INDOOR ARCHERY RANGE WAS ADDED TO THE BUSINESS ALONG WITH CAMO CLOTHES. IN 1994 THE HEROLDS SOLD OUT TO OUTDOOR SPORTS WORLD AND BUTCH WAS HIRED TO MANAGE THE STORE WHILE ANNA AND SON NATHAN WHERE HIRED TO HELP OUT IN THE STORE. IN JUNE OF 1997 THE HEROLDS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY THE INVENTORY AND STARTED PLANS TO MOVE THE STORE BACK TO PALMYRA. THE NEW STORE WAS BUILT AND BUTCH'S SPORTS WORLD OPENED IN FEBRUARY OF 1998 WITH AN EXPANDED LINE OF SPORTING GOODS INCLUDING ARCHERY, GUNS, AMMO AND ACCESSORIES AND MUZZLELOADERS AND ACCESSORIES, CAMO CLOTHES, INCLUDING KIDS AND BOOTS, KNIVES, FISHING  IN MARCH OF 1998 THEY ADDED SUZUKI ATVS AND CYCLES AND ACCESSORIES TO THEIR PRODUCT MIX.
