Additional Parking Garage Updates     Pay By Space Meter System Employed in Parking GarageIn the 317 space Orchard Street parking garage, the meter system is slightly different than the meters throughout downtown.  They have a very familiar look to them and  credit cards and coins as the on-street meters now do.   There is a color screen to walk you through how to pay.   Once entering the garage, the driver just needs to note which space they are parked in.  The number will be on the ground behind the vehicle or on a sign on the wall in front of you.To watch a video guide on how to use the meters, click here. The major advantage to the Pay by Space system is that after a purchase is made, a driver does not need to put the receipt on the dashboard.   Parking officers will know which spaces are paid for through a program on their cell phones.  Drivers will have the receipt with them to know exactly when their paid parking period expires.   In addition, drivers may also use a personal application to extend their paid parking period remotely and not have to return to the garage.
EasyPark devices will also work in the garage with the user just selecting DOVER – PARKING LOTS as their location.     The rate to park in the garage will be the same for the Orchard Street lot at $0.75/hour.   Permits will be for sale at $50 month.Current Notices  Second Street Permit UPDATE: Starting June 13th   Second Street permits will only be valid west of 17 Second Street (The Color Bar), on either side of the road, to keep the spaces closer to Central Avenue open for customers of our local merchants.  Parking Garage Permit UPDATE: Starting June 13th  Parking garage permits (business and residential) will only be valid in spaces numbered 201 and higher to keep the first floor spaces open for customers of our local merchants.
