Credit Union endorsed products selected for YOU for gap, vsa, and credit disability and credit life insurance Welcome to Stormseller Motorcycle Financing offered by Freedom Road Financial I'm renting a harley next month while in ABQ for 2 days, and I'm just starting to map out a couple day trips. Any suggestions of "must see" places, roads? Ok...a day trip from Abq to Santa Fe via Hwy 14, the Turquoise trail with a side ride up to the top of the Sandias. The movie Wild Hogs was filmed in a few places on Hwy 14. One destination mentioned in this post Tried to find a similar thread from past, but couldn't. Think a few ideas included: (1) the Turquoise Trail (Hwy 14) to Santa Fe via Madrid mentioned above, (2) "South 14" (now 337) loop around the Manzanos, through Tijeras, Tajique, Gran Quivera ruins, Mountainair (Shaffer Hotel), Abo ruins, then looping back through Belen, Los Lunas, Isleta, etc., (3) Jemez, via Bernalillo or Corrales. Unless you want to get into heavy traffic multi-lane highways, Jemez would be out and back but beautiful...watch speeds, especially near Jemez Pueblo and Jemez Springs on Hwy 4.

You'd be on Hwy 550, but that should be nice ride once you get past Santa Ana & Bernalillo traffic. No need to be on I-25 at all. Probably take old Camino Real from ABQ's north valley. Turquoise in my mind ends near the Cerillos Santa Fe exit. Suppose you could drive into Santa Fe that way, but egads! Wonder if you can either head out toward Lamy and Old Las Vegas Highway or see a little of La Cienega area. Either way, again no loop down La Bajada to get back to ABQ without getting on I-25 or returning on Turquoise. Before Madrid I'm pretty sure there's an 11-mile dirt county road, pretty well graded, (dust probably the worst part) toward Santa Domingo pueblo, where I hear there are good roads off I-25 all the way back to ABQ's north valley. Santo Domingo also has possibilities for nearby Tent Rocks and Cochiti Lake. 13 destinations mentioned in this post All of the above suggestions are heavily used by motorcyclists, especially on Sundays. My #1 suggestion would be a loop ride north to Bernalillo on the old US highway, now NM-313.

(The Harley dealer is in north Albuquerque on Alameda Blvd. very near the Balloon Fiesta Park), then northwest to San Ysidro on US550, north on NM-4 past Jemez Pueblo, Jemez State Monument in Jemez Springs, and the Valle Caldura, and then east to either Bandelier National Monument on NM-4, or take the split off through Los Alamos (NM-501).
