Great helmet - but not necessarily worth the $$ I'm finally replacing my Shoei RF1000, and wow, is it nice to wear a brand new helmet. The cushion, the look, and the SMELL. BUT - I'm not sure I would spend another $500+ on this. It's well built, feels/operates very nice, has the right features, but I just feel like something in the $200-300 range might be similar. For me, I have to have the helmet 'open' (to the 3/4 position) to put it on without ripping off my ears. Yes, once on and closed it's a great fit, but getting there is worth noting. I LOVE the sunshield. The vents are easy to operate while riding, provide a lot of air, but are a bit noisy when closed. I don't mind though, as, overall, the helmet is a LOT quieter than my old helmet. So after using this helmet almost daily, this is my review. If you're a Shoei person, get this helmet, it's great. If you're cautious about the price, shop around. I didn't, but feel that some cheaper helmets would provide ME a similar result.

Went down relatively hard as I separated from my bike. The two year old RF 1200 helmet I was wearing took the lions share of the impact and sliding damage. The helmet did it's job and I was able to walk away with no injuries. The RF 1200 is one great helmet. Very poorly made shrank 2 sizes so it doesn't fit anymore ... kind of sucks to waste money ... other shirts were the same way Donovan Oxford (Broken Arrow ) Everyone knows that Shoei makes great products and now I know that Motorcycle Superstore offers the same level of service.
