N O mushroom head. My complaint is that the matte finish melted. The first day it sat in the sun and got hot,it melted. It became so sticky I had to rub dirt all over it to absorb the sticky mess. I should have returned it right away but was living on the road and really didn't have an address.Do I still have it? Do I still wear it? Would I spend another $100 on another one? Not in 10 lifetimes.Licks Response: Jeff- back in 2013, we did have an issue with a small number of helmets where the finishes did become sticky or tacky when left in direct sun, it was less than a dozen units total that were reported to have this issue. The customers that contacted us in regards to their helmet problem were provided with replacement lids. We would have definitely have done the same for you. After some significant research into the cause, we determined that during packaging at our factory, a few helmet cases were covered and boxed for shipping before the finish was completely dry. This in turn caused a situation where those helmets were not given the necessary the time needed to fully cure.
This oversight did not result in any problems with the safety of the helmet, but did impact the esthetics and finish when heat was applied. We apologize that you received one of these helmets, there was no good way to identify the few that had been affected and we relied on customers contacting us to address the issue. Best open face helmet Edgar Mota from Concord , CA United States I got my helmet last week. I ordered it in March it took a while but well worth the wait. As soon as I opened it I was amazed how light it was. Only thing I think this helmet needs is a snap for the strap. It can with a little thing u can slide the strap threw so it don't flap which works fine but I think a snap would make it that much better. With that said I took it on a couple rides since I got it and I can't even tell I have it on when I'm out. I got the xl which it's just right if I don't wear my hat but when I wear my hat underneath it's snug and sits up higher on my head so I'm going to get a XXL and that should fix that just thought I throw that out there just in case u want to order one and u like to wear your hat under the helmet like I do.

Use the size chart. My head measured at 23 1/4". I ordered the large and it fits perfectly right at my brow and doesn't lift at high speeds. Do not order smaller because you think it will look smaller. That will just make it sit higher on your head. I was lucky that they had it in stock so I received it within a week. Extremely satisfied and would recommend this helmet to anyone. As others have mentioned, this helmet runs 1 size smaller than its listed size.
I was fortunate that the local Wal-Mart has them in stock so I could try it on before I purchased it. I usually wear a size large helmet (about 7 3/8 - 7 1/2 hat size) but the XL version of this helmet fit perfectly; even my prescription sunglasses fit inside well enough for me to wear them while I was racing. The large size was too snug, and it felt more like a medium and a half size of other brands of helmets. If you're expecting ARAI or SHOEI quality, dial your expectations back a few notches or else you might be disappointed. I bought it to use for track days in my car and for less than $80 out the door, it was a great deal. It's DOT Certified, but I'm not sure if it is Snell Certified or not. For use in a car or as an extra motorcycle helmet, it's a good deal. It has a pretty decent fit and finish, but it had a slight chemical smell inside due to the pads. I used some Fabreeze on the inside padding and let it air out for a couple of days so now it smells fine. For the price and what I needed it for, I'm happy with the purchase.
I have always used a half helmet but with winter winds needed something closed face. This is an excellent valued helmet. There is a plastic smell but it fades with use and I don't have a problem with it. I wear a small and tried on a medium and it's a perfect fit, so yes they do seem to run a size smaller. If you are lucky enough to have a local walmart with stock, try on a couple different ones even of the same size. I have excellent visibility and now my face is warm. Comfortable and well made helmet. Only downside is that I cannot find a replacement visor for it. only has helmets made in 2008 and NO information about replacement visors. I attempted to contact them via phone, the recording gave no options exept "hang up and go to comfortproducts.net/support" I went there and filled out an online form, but there is no mention anywhere on that site about fuel helmets or replacement parts. This helmet is looking more and more like it is "disposable". A replacement visor is a very common need.
It seems that fuel helmets is no longer around. I think it's pretty good for the price you need to order one size bigger extra large is like a large . I received this helmet as a gift. There wasn't anywhere around where i live to buy helmets without ordering online.. So no worries about sizing shipping returns and waiting.... Picked up in store. Found Out it is 20$$ more in store is kinda upsetting...i see reviewers say size is off i am not sure if it is or not. it feels well made sturdy light weight and decently comfortable. For the price it is a good buy i must say. Visor Seals well no air leak. vents at speed do function well. I am happy with it and any helmet is better then not having one at all. it is only DOT aproved and i plan on upgrading to a better helmet next year. For less than a hundred dollars you cant go wrong here. It is a nice helmet. I wear my sunglasses with it wish it had a sunshade but at this price point it is better than i expected and i am happy with the product.
